I’ve so far resisted installing either the Micro.blog app or MarsEdit on my work issued MacBook Pro. I feel that’s just the start of a slippery slope which leads to the valley of unproductive days.
I’ve so far resisted installing either the Micro.blog app or MarsEdit on my work issued MacBook Pro. I feel that’s just the start of a slippery slope which leads to the valley of unproductive days.
Noticed that my frequency of posting to DayOne has plummeted since I started a Micro.blog account.
The end to one of those days…
The moment when a colleague of the same grade dictates an order like they’re your boss.
The Germans probably have a word for the frustration you feel as you diplomatically tell them to ask nicely.
How many toys does one small dog need?
LinkedIn: the network for people you met once at a trade show 6 years ago. Or someone you used to work with, but has been promoted 4 times since you left the company that lacked any career opportunities when you were there.
Every time I ctrl+click on a Microsoft Office app on my Mac I’m amazed that there’s no “Create New” option. That’s staggering.
nValt no more.
Sorry Brett.
For any Mac user not using Keyboard Maestro then OMG are you missing out.
I’ve seen its power before but today I found myself wanting to link OmniFocus tasks, writing the notes in Bear.
I’m not a programmer, or at least I’ve written a line of code in nearly 20 years. But just by following the steps I’d take and adding them to Keyboard Maestro I was able to create an automated workflow.
So now typing >bear
in OmniFocus, KM kicks in to copy a link to the task, creates a new appropriately tagged Bear note, adds the OmniFocus link, then goes and grabs the task title, inserting this as the title of the note. The link for the note is then inserted back into OmniFocus, replacing the >bear
text with a link to the note in Bear. The back and forth happens in under a second.
On iOS the Workflow app has always been a mystery to me in ways that KM has seemed obvious by comparison.
Update : my failing single AirPod (out of warranty) was replaced for free by Apple under “consumer law”. Fabulous.
I’ve been thinking over addictive personality. A side to this is my unwillingness to give up, even just to give up and go to sleep.
However enough is enough. At least for today. I have to get up in 6 hours, so any later and I really will regret it.
What’s the best alternatives to Lightroom? ( @johnholzer @jack ?) I’ve been using an inherited copy of Lightroom 3 for 3-4 years and it’s looking like I’ll have to upgrade or move to something else as I update macOS (from 10.12)
My Micro-Monday recommendation is for @JohnPhilpin.
John mixes short, memorable posts,
“I should have coffee before I try to make coffee”
with replies which test push the term micro-blog to the limit, but worth every moment of your time.
No indication of which app has failed or the potential solution.
Just seen a commercial for body shaving products for men. Speechless 😶
Tired today.
I’m regretting getting my “Net-Fix” from a certain streaming service last night. Never a good idea to open Netflix after 10pm.
Ouch. That’s embarrassing. That’s gonna take a while to get over but we’ve all been there.
I think in addition to the fabulous Micro-Monday we need a Food Friday (hint hint @Manton). In order of FF I present slow cooked Beef Dopiaza, skilfully prepared by my better half.
Only the left AirPod is working. So there’s another thing to fix/replace.
Airline Staff: ”Can you check that your bag fits in here?”
Me: “No, it doesn’t.”
”Thank you sir, we’ll just check into the hold for you”
(Wow. Thank you so much. I may never see it again.)
Board the plane and there are bags 2x the size in the massive overhead luggage bins.
Spring has finally arrived. Evening bird song, and an active conversation…
Tried to share photos taken on my SLR with my father, knowing that we used to use Flickr (when it was a thing) but its painful to use by modern standards. And even with the album set for anyone he still couldn’t view them. Switched to Dropbox file sharing.
I started with Micro.blog to post micro blogs but I think that my ratio of new posts compared to replying to posts is at least 5:1 in favour of reply’s.
Insomnia is a bitch. I have been burning the candle at both ends (and in the middle) for too long. Hopefully will sleep tonight.
Do More.
“Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying”
I’m a master of procrastination, and seeking perfection. Actively preferring inaction over an ill-judged hasty reaction.
So I’ll defer a little hear and there. Move things to later this afternoon. Later tomorrow. Later next week.
Now while I can’t do literally everything right now, today, I can at least strive to do what I Can Do rather than what deliberate over what I Can’t Do or Should Do now. Easier said than done when I have so much on my plate. But there is so much I put off till a rainy day, when it’s raining.
So this is my plan for Q2-18.
Let’s see how this goes. Maybe somethings can become new habits.
