At 9am I was looking forward to 5 days in the office, clearing a significant backlog. By 10am it all changed, including 20hr day travelling on Wednesday.

Just chilling at the backdoor, undecided whether to come in or not.
I watched The Hunter Red October last night, and thumbing through IMDB found that Admiral Padorin was played by Peter Zinner in his one and only acting role.
The role is a significant plot point if not a long scene, Admiral Padorin opening a a letter from Ramius confirming his intention to defect.
However But Peter Zinner should instead be remembered as a film Editor, including The Deer Hunter, The Godfather, and An Officer and a Gentleman. All 3 brought him Oscar nominations and he won Best Film Editing for The Deer Hunter.
I love my AirPods, but it kills me that there’s no way to see the case battery life while both AirPods.
Suddenly our internet connection issue is fixed.
The worst engineering problem to have is one which fixes itself, without any apparent intervention. Just by magic. Of course this is a problem cause it might “unfix” itself just as easily.
There’s a line fault. The kind that takes and engineer to come to your house, and (hopefully) fix it. But that’s on Monday.
So in the meantime it’s either an ok 4G signal tethering from my iPhone or broadband at 0.1Mbps down (0.0Mbps up)
So hello. If you even read this.
My other-half is welded to Facebook, so every now and then I’m obliged to look at it.
Aside from the ads, auto play videos and dross which litters the app and the website I’ll never understand that lack of a chronological timeline. It breaks my brain to see randomised posts where I can’t just see the most recent content. What utter garbage.
Just like with the ads and video, this is UI design for benefit of the network and not for the benefit of the users.
Snow and Icicles
As a follow-up from yesterday, it’s still coming down. Think I’m living on Hoth.
About 18 months ago I purchased a number of sleeves for my MacBook, exploiting Amazon’s generous return policy. In the end, the only sleeve I kept was a cheap cover from Inateck.
However after hearing of Woolnut, I’ve purchased one of their gorgeous leather & wool sleeves. And it’s simply gorgeous.
Our protection sleeves for the MacBook Series are crafted from high-end genuine leather and 100% natural wool felt. All Woolnut leathers are vegetable tanned leathers. The end result is a slim and unique leather sleeve that does not only protect your laptop but also compliments it with a beautiful new look.
If anyone is looking for a sleeve for any MacBook since 2012 I can 100% recommend Woolnut.
It snowed. Then it snowed a bit more. Then a blizzard.
I did venture out, but when you find your car wants to skate rather than drive it’s better to think again. So I came home.
All that was before 9am and it’s not stopped snowing since and it’s now 5.40pm.
So I suspect I may not be going far tomorrow, unless you can get me a Tauntaun to go the office.

BBC News Headlines tonight report on the shocking news that it’s still Winter in February.
Oh but that’s right, it’s affected London and the South East of England, so it must be news.
Amongst the sea of hands holding up smartphones to film the concert, I’ve got to mention the guy holding up just his hand, and an imaginary phone.
A little bit of satire and political comment.
Ok, I’m not an American citizen so you may say I don’t the right to comment, but here goes:
In my opinion, there is nothing Presidential about calling someone a coward.
Just dipped into Twitter again.
I’m awaiting the crew in Hazmat suits to clean me up.
I’m so close to using KeyBoardMaestro to automate telling Sierra I’ve no wish to upgrade to High Sierra
Whilst all most of my timeline sleeps, I’d like to say
Good Morning
to all outside the US timezones.
Congratulations to the Mac software team at Microsoft for making the new version of word which doesn’t scroll. It’s a true celebration of the macOS beachball.
Just hand a look at Twitter… I really don’t know why I bother. It’s horrendous.
Wise words from @macgenie
We have the power to change the social network dynamic.
BBC News is reporting new funding for the Best for Britain campaign:
We have never hidden our agenda; we have been campaigning hard to win a meaningful vote on Brexit, which we did, and to keep all options on the table, including staying in the European Union.
It’s a start I guess.
4 years into using a Mac, 3 years with this particular MacBook, I’m only just beginning to explore Recovery Mode, Single User Mode, and Disk Utility.
As a nerd this feels like moment of pride, but not for the reason you might think.
As an ex-Windows user I’m delighted that it’s taken this long. My experience with Microsoft’s OS never held that level of longevity with a single installation.
It’s quite fixed just yet, but I’m confident on a recovery far more efficiently that I’ve known with a Windows re-install.
Enjoying an Espresso and a sparkling water. Sunday’s can be hard work.
